A Tasmanian woman found herself in the spotlight on Monday as she appeared in court over allegations involving a shocking video that went viral online, showing her performing a sex act with a live brown trout on a boat.
Catherine June Lee, 58, from Southern Tasmania, faced the Hobart Magistrates Court, where she was hit with three charges under the Classification (Publications, Films and Computer Games) Enforcement Act. The charges stem from accusations that she possessed and created a bestiality product between February 2022 and January 2023.
During the hearing, Magistrate Marica Duvnjak granted Lee an adjournment until October, giving her more time before the case moves forward.
Her alleged accomplice, 55-year-old Ashley David Hallam, appeared in court earlier in May. He faces multiple charges, including two counts of making or reproducing a bestiality product and three counts of possession. Hallam has yet to enter a plea.
The video at the center of this controversy, which has earned Lee the nickname "Tassie Trout Lady," shows her lying on a boat while a man allegedly uses a live trout to perform a sexual act on her. The footage quickly spread across social media, sparking outrage and prompting a police investigation that led to the charges against both Lee and Hallam.
Authorities have been clear in reminding the public that possessing or sharing the video is a criminal offense, underscoring the seriousness of the matter.
